GUIDELINES FOR SEED FUND UTILIZATION

MKJC is fervently working at pioneering in the field of research in all discipline of arts and science. Several new ventures have been intiated and undertaken that support cutting-edge research benefiting the society and scientific community. MKJC encourages such endeavours by supporting innovative researches through allotting SEED money. This document discusses the details of research policy in the allotment of SEED money

Financial support for faculty members

Eligibility

Full-time and permanently employed faculty members working at MKJC are eligible to apply.

Criteria for SEED grants
  • SEED grants are limited to Rs. 25,000/- for research proposals (may exceed based on the significance of the investigation)
  • SEED money will be provided only for research proposals in specialized area of research. Basic research will not be entertained for seed funding
  • Prior to submission of the project proposal, a pre-evaluation of the proposal should be done within the department and the selected proposal will be subjected for second level of evaluation
  • A maximum number of one proposal can be submitted per department for the second level of evaluation. A panel of expert committee will evaluate the proposals based on the merit, novelty, research plan and budgetary. About 2 proposals every year irrespective of the department will be funded through SEED money by the Institution.
  • Call for proposals for seed grant will be announced by 1st of July every year and the results of sanctioned projects will be announced by 16th August every year
  • Format for the submission research proposals for SEED grant is provided in (Annexure I)
  • SEED grants can be used only for procurement of consumables relevant to the project and shall not be allowed to be used in form of fellowship.
  • Grants will be released directly to the principal investigator (PI) of the sanctioned project
  • No manpower will be supported for projects under SEED grant
  • The project period for SEED money is one year from the date of sanctioning of the fund
  • The PI or the Co-PI (if any) should not leave the institution prior to the completion of the project
  • PI of the project is responsible for proper execution of the project and submitting quarterly reports of the research progress (Annexure II)
  • The PI is responsible for publication of at least 1 research paper (arising out of the project) in reputed journals
  • The PI is responsible for the timely completion of the project and the project completion report (Annexure III) has to be submitted along with a detailed UC (Annexure IV) for the utilization of the grant. Grants remaining unutilized at the end of the project duration has to be refunded to the institution
  • At the end of the project 3 copies of the project report has to be submitted, 2 for the department and 1 to the research department of the Institution
  • Faculty members are allowed to utilize SEED money for patent filing, publications of their research finding in the Carelist/Scopus indexed/SCI Journals
  • SEED grant are also provided to conduct one conference/seminar/workshop per Department.
