Bridge Course

A bridge course for newly admitted students is conducted every year before the commencement of the first semester classes. The main objective of the course is to bridge the gap between subjects studied at University level and subjects they would be studying in Graduation. The syllabus for the course is framed in such a way that they get basic knowledge on the subjects which they would be learning through graduation.

1.Guidelines for Value-Added courses: The Value Added Education Courses aim to provide additional learner centric graded skill oriented training, with the primary objective of improving the employability skills of students. Value added courses are provided to equip the students with knowledge and skills outside of the curriculum or to meet any specific requirements of the industry. Marudhar Kesari Jain College for Women, offers various Value Added Courses which shall be conducted on College hours(minimum 30 Hours) Objectives of the Value Added Course are:
Incorporating course based assignments, and simulations that simulate real-world challenges and require students to apply their knowledge and skills to solve practical problems encountered in the industry. 2. Course Designing The department interested in designing a Value Added Course should undertake Training Need Analysis, discuss with the generic employers, alumni and industrial experts to identify the gaps and emerging trends before designing the syllabus. Any new Value Added Course developed by a Department should be approved by the Principal. The course offered should not be the same as any course listed in the curriculum of the respective programme or any other programme offered in University Departments. 3. Guidelines for conducting value added courses Value Added Course is not mandatory to qualify for any programme and the score earned through the Value Added Courses shall be over and above the total requirement prescribed in the curriculum for the award of the degree. It is a teacher assisted learning course open to all students without any fee. Classes for a VAC are conducted during the RESERVED Time Slot in a prescribed week .A student will be permitted to register only one Value Added Course in a Semester. The students may be allowed to take value added courses offered by other departments after obtaining permission from Head of the Department offering the course. The duration of value added course is minimum 30 hours with a combination 18 hours (60%) of theory and 12 hours (40%) of practical. However, the combination of theory and practical shall be decided by the course teacher with the approval of the Head of the Department. Each faculty handling a course shall be responsible for the maintenance of Attendance and Assessment Record for candidates who have registered for the course. The record shall be submitted to the Head of the Department once in a week for monitoring the attendance and syllabus coverage. The duration of assessment is one hour each. The pattern of question paper will be objective method. The passing requirement for value added courses shall be 50% of the marks prescribed for the course. Learners can get a certificate after they have registered for, written the exam and successfully passed. The students who have successfully completed the Value Added Course shall be issued with a e-Certificate. 4. Attendance The maintenance of the enrollment, attendance, and assessment details for candidates who have registered for the course is the responsibility of each faculty member delivering the course. Each student shall have a minimum of 75% attendance 5. Assessment An assessment will be conducted at the end of the each course. The value-added course assessment will be valued for a score of 50. The pattern of question paper will be decided by the respective faculty. 6.Certification The students who have successfully completed the Value Added Course shall be issued with a Certificate.

INTRODUCTION
The role of skills and knowledge in driving economic growth and social development is paramount for any country. However, the current situation in our country reveals a significant demand-supply mismatch in the workforce, where the economy requires a greater number of skilled individuals than are currently available. This discrepancy is further compounded by high levels of unemployment. To address this challenge and bridge the skill gap, there is a crucial need to focus on Skill Development programs. Recognizing this, MKJC Skill Academy was established in the Academic year 2023-2024 .The academy operates on three key pillars: Capacity Building and Skill Enhancement courses, Competitive Examination and Career Counselling, and Value Added and Certificate Programs. These programs are designed to go beyond the conventional curriculum and incorporate the latest requirements and technologies that are in high demand across various industries.
MAIN OBJECTIVE
On the backdrop of the fact that there is a serious mismatch between the students pursuing conventional degrees and the skills and knowledge required by the industry which a major contributor in job market. The proposed programmes would lead to developing the skill development centre maintaining a pyramid structure of student enrollment with respect to Certificate, Diploma, in ever demanding sectors. The focus of skill development components has been therefore on equipping the students with appropriate technical knowledge, practice and attitude, so as to fulfil the skill gaps and make them work ready .The main objectives of the programmes are:

National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a project of MHRD initiated by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Roorkee) along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2003, to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs.
