Green Campus >> Rain Water Harvesting & water Management
Rain water harvesting reduces soil erosion and flood hazards by collecting rainwater and reducing the flow of storm water to prevent urban flooding. Most buildings that utilize rainwater harvesting systems have a built-in catchment area on top of the roof, which has a capacity of collecting large volumes of water in case of rainstorms.
Water Management is important since it helps determine future Irrigation expectations. Water management is the management of water resources under set policies and regulations. Water, once an abundant natural resource, is becoming a more valuable commodity due to droughts and overuse.
Considering the problem of global warming our institute has made an effort for rain water harvesting. The administrative body of the college focused on water scarcity problem by implementing rain water harvesting with 100000 liters of water tank as its capacity. Thus, the college has been storing huge quantity of water every year to fight against water scarcity. The water is reused for plantation & gardening. Awareness for water harvesting was given to the students periodically. The college uses misers on autoclaves for conserving the water. The water used to wash hands is directed to the garden so that the plants get regular supply of water.
