About the Department


SPREADING POSITIVITY AND EVADING ADVERSITY

The Department of Psychology at Marudhar Kesari Jain College for Women was established in the year 2019. Since its founding, the Department has been actively involved in providing training and practical oriented curriculum to the students through organizing workshops, guest lectures, national seminars, internships and certificate programs like therapy courses and behavioral studies to equip students with unique learning experiences. Frequent field training and field visits are provided for hands on experience in the concerned field which inculcates a job experience for the students.

Psychology touches the daily lives of everyone and is therefore a perennially popular subject of study for students across many disciplines. The subject of Psychology is both interesting and valuable. Psychology is a diverse field of study which requires psychologists specialize in many different aspects of behavior and cognition. Psychology embodies not only a body of knowledge but is also a way of looking at and understanding the world around us.

The laboratory in the Department of Psychology embodies equipment for conducting various psychological experiments like recording behavior and monitoring the mental and emotional states of the subject. It also includes various tools for the measurement of Intelligence, Problem Solving, Attention, Motivation, and Learning. Counselling services including personal counselling, career guidance and group counselling are also dealt with expert guidance.

The Department has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Fountain College of Counselling and Psychotherapy, Krishnagiri and supports various residential programs.

To promote human values through psychological discourses, creating responsible citizenry, addressing modern societal concerns that contribute to the psychological well-being of the mankind.

To help students understand the impact of emotional trauma among people

To provide a platform for students to have healthy discussions and deliberations in the field of psychology.

To enable students to develop new perspectives about life and challenges and allow them to dispense their knowledge to the society.

To encourage a sense of responsibility, authenticity, creativity and ethical values among students.

To offer scientific and professional training to graduate students in various fields of psychology

COURSES OFFERED

    B.Sc Psychology

Duration: 3 years

Eligibility: Any discipline of Science

Program includes Internship, Certificate course, Field trips, Workshops etc

   M.Sc Psychology

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Any science graduates

Program includes Internship, Certificate course, Field trips, Workshops, Research based activities, Counseling services, Career guidance, Psychotherapies  etc
