ABOUT NCC

National Cadet Corps is a Tri -Services organization comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth – ‘The Leaders of Tomorrow’ – into disciplines and patriotic citizens.
The genesis of the NCC can be traced back to the First World War when the Britishers created the University Corps as the second line of defense and to have a large pool of trained youth available for employment into the Armed Forces.
After independence the present day NCC under the Ministry of Defence came into existence on 16 Apr 1948 through NCC act XXX1 1948.
NCC was formally inaugurated on 15 Jul 1948 as soon as the schools and colleges reopened after summer vacation.
The Girls Division of the NCC was Started In Jul 1949.
In 1950 Air Wing was added on 01 Apr with one Air Sqadron each at Bombay and Kolkata
The Naval Wing of the NCC was raised in Jul1952, thus completing the true representation of all services in the Corps. Presently, NCC has approximately 13 Lakhs Cadets under it fold

NCC HISTORY

The Cadet Corps Committee which was formed on 29 Sep 1946 with Pt HN Kunzru as chairman held six meetings in South Block, New Delhi. At the same time, Pt HN Kunzru formed sub-committees which were sent on study tours in all the main provinces of pre-independent India including provinces which are now located in Bangladesh and Pakistan. One sub-committee was also sent on tour to Great Britain and France from 15 Feb 1947 to 31 Mar 1947 to study the Youth and Cadet organizations in those countries.

The Cadet Corps Committee carried out exhaustive study of the problem of youth in India. Its sub-committees after their tour at home and abroad submitted their report to the Govt of India in Mar 1947. Soon after the report was submitted, a far reaching political development began to impact the country, due to which the Cadet Corps Scheme had to be kept in abeyance. NCC is an Organization engaged in conducting constructive activities for all the cadets under its fold. Students who have undergone training at the NCC have self discipline, hardwork, leadership qualities and good value system. NCC also helps in shaping them in to dynamic and responsible citizens of India. I am confident that NCC at MKJC would continue to be a platform for grooming tomorrow's citizens and leaders, and help in "Nation Building".

On this occasion, I extend my heartiest congratulations to all Officers and Cadets of the National Cadet Corps at MKJC and I am sure that they will do us proud.
